Ida Mae (Brown) Carnahan McElhinny

Ida Mae McElhinny, 78, of Brookville died Sunday June 7, 2015 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA.

Born July 22, 1936 in Oil City, her parents were Charles H. and Helen R. (Welms) Brown.

She was a graduate of Cranberry High School.

She worked as a seamstress for over twenty years at the Newbie Shirt Factory in New Bethlehem and Hawthorn before retiring.

She loved to make baby quilts, crocheting, reading, gardening and canning.

She was of the Lutheran Faith.

Surviving relatives include her daughter Patty (Michael) McElhinny of Brookville; three grandsons, Nate (Tiffany) McElhinny of Vallejo, CA., Howard (Erica) McElhinny, of Phoenix AZ., Charles (Tiffany) McElhinny of Phoenix, AZ., a cousin Georgia Martin of Oil City, and two great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband Larry MElhinny and her brother John H. Brown.

There will be no viewing per her request. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville, PA.
