557723cab9c31[1]Melvin B. Passauer, age 93, of West Hickory, PA, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, PA.

He was born December 26, 1921 in Tionesta, PA, son of the late Charles and Anna (Charlston) Passauer Sr.

On March 16, 1946 he married Geraldine J. (Remington) Passauer who just passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015.

The couple were married 69 years.

Melvin was a life member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66 of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a shovel-crane operator and worked on the Kinzua Dam and Tionesta Dam Army Corps projects, as well as many other large projects including out of the country in Brazil. As a hobby he worked locally in the oil fields.

He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy Seabees, 30th US Naval Battalion, Master Machinist II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8803 in Tidioute, PA, and the Tionesta Amvets Post #113.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory C. Passauer and his wife Annette of West Hickory. Shawn H. Passauer and his wife Cora, also of West Hickory. A daughter Melanie L. Brooks and her husband Harry of Tionesta. Two grandchildren, Kristine McWilliams and Lucas Passauer, both of West Hickory.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles A. Passauer Jr.

There will be no public visitation. All services held will be private.

The couple will be laid to rest together at the same time at Riverside Cemetery in Tionesta.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to the West Hickory United Methodist Church PO Box 31 West Hickory, PA 16370.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
