lester-moyer-photoMr. Lester L. Moyer, 87, of 1620 Creek Rd., Cooperstown passed away at 1:55 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Moyer was born on March 13, 1928, in Franklin to the late Lawrence and Ruth Karns Moyer. He married Lois J. Kimes on March 7, 1952, in Oil City. Mrs. Moyer preceded him in death on February 13, 2003.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Lester was currently self-employed and owner of Moyer’s Lumber in Cooperstown. During the 60’s and 70’ he was an independent owner and operator of Moyer’s Equipment Company also in Cooperstown.

He was a former member of the Titusville and Oil City Church of the Nazarene and most recently attended the Atlantic Ave. United Brethren Church in Franklin.

Lester enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, traveling, collecting gem stones, talking with friends and meeting new friends.

He is survived by five children, Lester Alabaugh and wife Candice of Pascagoula, MS, Mary Lander and husband George of Taupier, MS, Kenneth Moyer of Oil City, Dennis Moyer, Rebecca Jean Gharing and husband Jon both of Cooperstown; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Timothy Moyer and wife Eleanor of Franklin, Richard Moyer and wife Carol of Nevada City, CA.

Lester was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald and David Moyer; and a sister, Juanita Sallee.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.
