Raymond A. Hogue

Raymond A. Hogue, 82, of Knox , devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 13, 2015.

Raymond was born November 12, 1932, in Oil City, PA. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Viola (Strotman) Hogue. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1952.

He served the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954.

He graduated from Clarion State Teachers College in 1958 and went on to teach 35 years at 7th Street School in Oil City PA. He had a strong Christian faith, was a member of Gideon’s International-Clarion Chapter and in previous years, taught Sunday school and served on the official board at Knox Grace E.C. Church. He loved interacting with children and served in various children’s ministries.

Raymond was a member of the Dehart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post #997 of Lamartine.

He enjoyed singing, basketball, horseshoes, golf and hunting.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Carol (Weaver) Hogue; their children, R. Allen Hogue and wife Joni, Brian Hogue and wife, Molly and Andrew Hogue and wife, Laura, all of Knox. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Abbie Hogue, Joshua Hogue and wife, Nicole of Quakertown, Jami and husband, Jeff Lyons of Franklin, Tyler and wife, Jessica Hogue of Clarion, Ben Hogue, Lauren Reddinger, Mason Mansfield, Mitchell Hogue, Grace Hogue, Gavin Hogue and Samuel Hogue, all of Knox. Great grandchildren include: Haley Lentz, Madison Lentz and Riley Hogue of Quakertown, Isacc Dunkle and Crosby Hogue of Clarion, and Jack and Carter Lyons of Franklin.

Surviving siblings and spouses include brothers, Paul (Bill) Hogue and wife, Nancy of Pleasantville, Richard Hogue and wife, Jackie of Ford City. Sisters: Shirley Showman of Greensboro, N.C. and Joyce Crum and husband, Richard from Williamsburg, VA. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Betty Hogue and Norma Hogue, both of Oil City, Idabel Hogue of Shippenville and Emily Hogue of Maryland.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Lawrence Milton Hogue, John Hogue, Kenneth Hogue, and Dale Hogue, Catherine Hogue, Opal Hogue, Helen Mitchell and husband Paul, Betty Rhoades and husband Carl.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Grace E.C. Church, 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Reverend Richard Osberg, pastor of Grace E.C. Church, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded prior to the funeral service by the DeHart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post #997 of Lamartine with the Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post #720 of Knox assisting.
Interment will follow in the Valley Cemetery in Knox.
