DadA. Thomas Smail, 75, of Corsica, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family following an illness.

Born August 7, 1939 in Arthurs, PA; he was the son of Irvin and Hazel Darr Smail.

He was married on September 3, 1960 to the former Carol A. Griebel, who survives.

Tom was a truck driver for 30 years and he also drove tour bus and school bus.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion and a Third Degree Knights of Columbus.

Tom was a life member of the Moose Lodge 101 of Clarion with a fellowship degree. He is also a member of the Clarion Eagles 3807.

He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family, and loved family vacations at the beach.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his daughter, Cindy Ballentine and her husband, Bob, of Drums, and their children, Seth of Washington, D.C., and Ashley of Grand Junction, CO; three sons, Tom Smail and his children, Brittany, Caitie, and Mallory, all of Erie; Joe Smail and his wife, Jayne, of Tionesta, and their children, Alex and his wife, Shannon, of US Air Force stationed in Anchorage, AK, and Nic of Tionesta; and Steve Smail of Corsica.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Hubert, Bud, David, Albert, Jim, and Harold Smail; and three sisters, Betty Adams, Isabelle Best, and Mary Ziegler.

At Tom’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Clarion, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor, presiding.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.
