Police Release Details on I-80 Tractor Trailer Crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police have released details surrounding an Interstate 80 tractor trailer accident that slowed traffic for nearly seven hours.

Police say at 2:14 p.m., on June 30, 40-year-old Amarjit Singh, of Clark, NJ, was traveling west on Interstate 80 near Exit 62 in a 2007 Freightliner Columbia.

As Singh approached the exit 62 entrance ramp, another vehicle entered the roadway in front of Singh without stopping at the stop sign at the end of the ramp, according to police.

Police say Singh attempted to stop the truck to avoid a collision causing his truck and trailer to slide off of the roadway into the median.

The trailer continued to slide into a ditch and the left rear of the trailer impacted small trees along the ditch.

The vehicle then rolled over onto its left side and came to rest in the median parallel to Interstate 80, facing west.

Police say the other vehicle continued westbound without stopping.

Amarjit escaped injury and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Bauer Truck Repair utilized “air bags” and other recovery equipment to help move the truck into an upright position and then removed it from the scene.

The crash slowed traffic for nearly 7 hours until the scene was cleared around 9 p.m.

Clarion Fire & Hose Co. No. 1, Clarion-based State Police, and Clarion Hospital EMS also responded to the scene.
