Alan L. Appleby, 66, of Knox passed away Monday, July 6, at the Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born July 25, 1948 in Derby, England he was the son of the late Leslie and Majorie Appleby.
Alan married Cathy Kahle who he met on a business trip for Ransomes and Rapier. They lived in England for four years before moving to Clarion County. Alan spent 6 years with the Royal Merchant Marines. During his time in the marines he sailed around the world four times and visited every continent.
Alan served a seven year apprenticeship for Rolls Royce where he worked as a millright and an engineer. After moving to the US he worked for Clarion Boards as a vibration system analyst.
Alan is survived by his wife; two children Alexis Appleby of Pittsburgh and Devon Appleby of Knox; and a sister Beverly Whetton of Derby, England. Along with his parents Alan was preceded in death by a brother Howard Appleby.
The Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday at the McEntireWeaver Funeral Home, at 504 East Penn Avenue in Knox.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Morris officiating.
