Chicora Man Charged After Entering Armstrong County Home, Passing Out

Piper ZacheryEAST FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Butler County man is facing felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass after he was allegedly found passed out on the morning of July 6 at the home of a family he didn’t know in East Franklin, Armstrong County.

According to TribLive.com, 19-year-old Zachery Dean Piper, of Chicora, entered the Firehouse Lane, East Franklin home through an unlocked door. A resident of the home found Piper sleeping on her couch when she awoke.

East Franklin Police Chief William Evans said the woman was terrified and “immediately locked herself in the bedroom with her children and called 911.”

According to police, Piper said after leaving a party, he entered the home mistaking it for his sister’s house.

Evans said when Piper woke to find police surrounding him, he allegedly became “belligerent,” and refused to tell police where his sister lived.

According to online court documents, Piper was arraigned at 8:32 a.m. on July 6 before District Judge James H. Owen.

He faces the following charges:

– Criminal trespass, breaking into a structure, third-degree felony
– Burglary of a structure set up for overnight accommodation with a person present, first-degree felony
– Criminal trespass as a simple trespasser, summary

Unable to post $10,000.00 cash bail, he was placed in the Armstrong County Jail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on July 15 with Judge Owen presiding.
