Service for Patricia Ann Hamilton Yurkanin

YurkaninA service has been scheduled for Patricia Ann Hamilton Yurkanin, 63, of Utica who passed away Thursday, January 29, in Surprise, Arizona.

The service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Utica fire hall.

Born February 22, 1951, she was the daughter of the late William and Maxine Hamilton.

Patty grew up in Knox and graduated from Keystone High School, after which she received a Master of Education degree from Slippery Rock State College.

She was married July 5, 2003, to George Yurkanin, a loving and caring husband.

An elementary teacher at Utica Elementary School for 33 years, Patty was an innovative educator who was fondly remembered by her students.

In addition to her husband, Patty is survived by six siblings: Nancy Matthews of Knox; Keith (Nancy) Hamilton of Knox; Linda (Harold) Best of Franklin; Barbara Reed of Ocala, FL; Susan (Bruce) Cherico of Clarion and Bonnie (Paul) Fazio of Washington, PA, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Patty’s family suggests memorials be made to the Utica Fire Department or the Franklin Library.
