Member_148436[1]Eunice LaVonne Detrie, 87, of the Chicora Medical Center, formerly of Karns City, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2015 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Eunice was born in Renfrew on March 31, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Nellie Mallett.

She was a 1944 graduate of Kaylor High School.

Eunice was married to James Francis Detrie on July 25, 1946. Mr. Detrie passed away on March 25, 2008.

Mrs. Detrie was a homemaker and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chicora. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, being a pen pal, and desired to be remembered as a kind person who enjoyed helping others.

She is survived by two nephews, John D. Detrie and his wife, Heidi, of Petrolia and Leroy F. Detrie of High Point, NC and six great nieces and nephews, Nikki, Sam, Sabra, Nichole, Brendon, and Kaitlyn.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from Noon – 2:00 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Kohlhepp, a retired Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Chicora. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chicora Medical Center, 160 Medical Center Road, Chicora, PA 16025.
