Lois Lorayne (Simons) Burneisen

Lois BurneisenLois Lorayne (Simons) Burneisen, 86, of Oil City, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at home.

Lois was born March 24, 1929 in Oil City, daughter of the late Clyde and Minnie Heasley Simons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Charles H. Burneisen; her twin brother, Lyle, who passed on April 15, 2015; and four brothers, Clyde Simons Jr., Melvin Simons, Richard Simons and Charles Simons. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Holly Suzanne Burneisen.

Lois was a homemaker and raised seven children on Bishop Avenue. She loved spending time with her children, 16 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren, and they all loved spending time with her. Her exceptional patience, kindness, and relaxed nature are a few of the characteristics her family and friends will cherish and remember. She was an avid Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins fan.

She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church where she was active in the Young at Heart Sunday school class and the Women’s Society. Lois enjoyed crocheting booties and hats for premature babies, and was the MYF youth leader and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Church for many years. She was a member of TOPS Chapter PA 977 and the Oil Valley Scarlet Ladies Red Hats.

She is survived by her children, Judy Rearick, Phyllis (Robert) Hutchinson, Charles (Vicky) Burneisen, Jr., Carolyn (Jeff) Hoskowitz, Robert (Lisa) Burneisen, of Oil City, Leatrice (Jerry)Brosius, of Seneca, and Joyce (Mike) Laderosa of Marietta, OH.

Also surviving are two sisters, Ardelle Lyons of Grapevine, TX and Lorraine Karns of Oil City; two brothers, Wade Simons of Oil City and Ronnie Simons of Millersville, MD; and a sister-in-law, Marion Simons of Red Hill.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Oakland UM Church, 1431 State Route 428, Oil City, PA 16301.
