SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Butler-based State Police say an Emlenton woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Summit Township, Butler County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. on July 19 along Jefferson Street in Summit Township.

A 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Karen L. Risinger, 29, of Emlenton, was following a 2013 Honda CR-V driven by David W. Frengel, 67, of Butler, when — for an unknown reason — Risinger’s vehicle drove into the rear of the Frengel vehicle, causing both vehicles to come to rest in the west berm of the roadway.

Risinger’s vehicle sustained major disabling front end damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The Frengel vehicle sustained minor rear end damage and was able to be driven.

Risinger was wearing a seat belt and received a minor leg injury but refused medical transportation.

Frengel was wearing a seat belt, sustained a minor neck strain, and also refused medical transportation.

A passenger in the Frengel vehicle, Barbara L. Frengel, 68, of Butler, was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury.

Police say Risinger was cited for following too closely.

Marshall Offstein Towing and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
