SCRUBGRASS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 11:07 a.m. on July 24, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 West, near mile marker 39, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to police, 72-year-old Emory Lee, of East Orange, NJ, and 51-year-old Rena I. Seltzer, of Ann Arbor, MI, were involved in the collision.

This crash occurred as Lee was traveling west on I-80 behind Seltzer. Traffic ahead of Lee slowed due to a vehicle fire in the eastbound lane. Lee was distracted by the fire and did not realize traffic ahead of him was slowing down. Lee’s 2006 Toyota Ava did not slow down, and struck Seltzer’s 2015 Dodge Caravan, police say.

Both vehicles pulled off onto the north side berm and came to a final rest facing west, according to police.

Lee suffered moderate injuries. He was transported to Grove City Medical Center.

A passenger in Lee’s vehicle — 19-year-old Ian McDonald, of East Orange, NJ — was not injured.

Seltzer and two passengers — 52-year-old Pam Shore and a 17-year-old male, both of Ann Arbor — were not injured.

All occupants were using seat belts.

Superior Ambulance, Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department, and Hovis Towing assisted at the scene.
