Shirley A. Burdette, 81, of Barkeyville, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice unit in Butler.

She was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Clintonville to Floyd S. Meals and Mazie E. McLaughlin Meals.

She was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1952.
She was of the Protestant faith.

She married Harold C. Burdette on March 17, 1956. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1998.

Survivors include her daughter Karen S. Riddle, of Grove City, two sons: Kevin Burdette and his wife Montene, of Grove City, and Frank L. Burdette and his wife Cynthia, of Mercer. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild expected in September, a sister Mabel Pettit and her husband Ivan, of Kennerdell, and three brothers: Robert Meals and his wife Edna, of Grove City, William Meals and his wife Velma, of Clintonville, and Kenneth Meals and his wife Delores, of Stoneboro.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy Lynn Burdette, and three brothers: Donald, Keith and Richard Meals.
