Robert Howard “Skip” Lewis

Robert Howard “Skip” Lewis, 79, of Stanley, North Carolina, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on July 28, 2015.

He was born on November 21, 1935, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Dale Eugene and Hazel May (Whiley) Lewis.

On August 25, 1955, he married the former Antonio Pagano. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2004. He then married Gracie Armstrong in July of 2010. She survives and resides in Stanley, North Carolina.

Mr. Lewis is a veteran of the United States Army having served at the end of the Korean Conflict and was stationed for four years in the early 60’s in Barstow, California.

Robert worked as a master mechanic, truck driver, and after retirement repaired boat motors locally and did some trucking down south.

His enjoyments were hunting, fishing and he drove his motorcycle until a couple of years ago.

In addition to his wife Gracie, he is survived by his children, Dalene Beckman and husband David of Punxsutawney, Cindy Bochert and husband James of Punxsutawney, Brenda Lewis of Hillsdale, Robert “Buzz” Lewis and wife Toni of Punxsutawney, and Heather Jones and husband James of Anita; twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also his sisters, Sandra Calen and husband Bill of Virginia, Carol Taylor and husband Wayne, and one brother, Clair (Joe) Lewis, both in North Carolina.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Big Run, Pa.

Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard, graveside at Fairview Cemetery in Big Run, immediately following his memorial service.
