Ronald C. Grooms, age 72, of Tionesta, PA, died un-expectantly on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Clarion Hospital, Clarion, Pa.

He was born November 30, 1942 in Duquesne, PA, son of the late John W. and Pearl (Zewe) Grooms.

On March 27, 1974 he married Anna M. (Eck) Grooms who survives.

Ron graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, PA and retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after serving 25 years as a State Trooper. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church of Tionesta, and the Fryburg Sportsman Club of Fryburg, PA. He enjoyed restoring old cars.

In addition to his wife surviving are a son, Ronald J. Grooms and his wife Jennifer of Lucinda, PA. A daughter, Brianne M. Oliver and her husband Chris of Marienville, PA. A grandson William Christopher Oliver, and a step-granddaughter, Kiley Oliver. A nephew Wayne Grooms of Virginia, and a niece Renee Hoovler of Tionesta.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Grooms, and a niece Jeannine Hines.

There will be no public visitation. Friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Tionesta on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10 AM with Father Joseph Kalinowski celebrating the Mass.
