Ronald A. Raber

Raber RonaldRonald A. Raber, 70, of Kittanning, PA passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born August 7, 1944 in Kittanning, the son of Sterling E. and Pearl Helen (McGregor) Raber.

Ronald was a lifelong resident of Kittanning and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1962. He honorably served in the US Navy and then graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1971. For 37 years he served with the Commonwealth State Police, retiring from the Kittanning Barracks as a lieutenant in 2000. In 1990 he graduated from the FBI National Academy. Following retirement, Ronald became a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making things for his family and friends.

He was a former member of the First Church of God in Kittanning and currently was a member of Harvest Community Church. Ronald was a social member of the Ford City VFW and was active in the BPOE Elks #203 Lodge. He also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police and National Wild Turkey Federation. Ronald was a 32nd degree Mason at the Coudersport Consistory and belonged to Masonic Lodge #240 of Kittanning. Hunting was one of his favorite hobbies and he also loved running, competing in numerous marathons. Ronald will be best remembered for being a great friend and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Marion E. (Cornman) Raber, whom he married April 30, 1966; daughter, Aimee Lynne Raber, of Kittanning; grandson, Zachery “Zach” Raber, of Indiana, PA; brother-in-law, Chuck Cornman and wife, Carole, of Chesterfield, MI; numerous nieces and nephews; and Cavalier King Charles, Sophia.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene E. Raber; and sister, Glenda Bargerstock.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Harvest Community Church, 143 Reed Rd., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Harvest Community Church, with Pastor Rodney Miller officiating. Following the service, military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
