Catherine I. Dahlman Scheffer

Catherine I. Dahlman Scheffer, 89, formerly of Franklin, passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, at Sugarcreek Station.

Born November 23, 1925 in Oil City, Catherine was the daughter of the late Vincent and Jessie Cangemi Spezialy. She was married to Robert Lafayette Dahlman, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1988; and then to James Scheffer, who preceded her in death on November 16, 2005.

Catherine was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling — particularly to Alaska and Texas, crocheting and jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her three children, Robert E. Dahlman and his wife, Carol, of Franklin, Martin A. Dahlman and his wife, Darlene, of New Braunfels, TX, and Erwin N. Dahlman of Anchorage, AK.

Catherine is also survived by her five grandchildren, Robert Dahlman of Oil City, Erik Dahlman of Austin, TX, Michelle York and her husband, Waco, of Schertz, TX, Nathan Dahlman of San Antonio, TX, and Matthew Dahlman and his wife, Rachel, of Selma, TX; and her 2 great-grandchildren, Aidan and Easton York of Schertz, TX.

She is additionally survived by her brothers, Dominic Spezialy and his wife, Millie, of Anchorage, AK, and Marco Spezialy of Anchorage, AK; and her sisters, Neva Robertshaw of California and Florence Miller of Oklahoma.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Catherine was preceded in death by her siblings, Carmella Spezialy, Joseph Spezialy, Andrew Spezialy and Rocco Spezialy.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, August 10th from 10 to 12 p.m. Funeral Services for Catherine will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 12 p.m. (noon), following visitation, with Rev. Randy Kightlinger, Venango County VNA Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society — PA Division, PO Box 896, Hershey PA 17033-0896.
