Sara (Sadie) Ann Carone

Sara (Sadie) Ann Carone, 83 of 228 East Spruce St. Titusville, died peacefully 8/12/2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born April 28, 1932, in Oil City, Pa, she was the daughter of Paul S. Straub and Laura Peterson Straub.

Sadie Graduated from the Oil City High School. At the age of 35 after having seven children, and with the support of her husband, Sadie decided to continue her education. Sadie graduated from the first nursing degree class at Clarion University as a Registered Nurse and went for training at John Hopkins to become a Nurse Practitioner. Sadie went on to work at the Titusville Hospital for many years. While living in Titusville, Sadie also spent many years serving as a member of the School Board and the YWCA board. She was also employed by the VNA, the local Head Start program, and Family Planning. Sadie and her husband Jim were co-owners of Papa Carone’s Family Restaurant in Titusville for over thirty years.

Sadie is survived by her husband James C. Carone. They were married July 4, 1953, at St. Venantius Church in Rouseville, Pa.

Her family was the center of her life, and Sadie was the inspiration and coordinator of many family events.

Sadie is survived by six children, Ann Waychoff and husband James of Titusville, Lynn Pattison and husband Kevin of Grove City, Mark Carone and wife Elizabeth of Grove City, Laura Johnson and husband Todd of Titusville, George Carone and wife Debbie of Rutland VT, Lawrence Carone, She was also survived by a son-in-law Fredrick Zdarko of Titusville, as well as twenty-five grand children and fifteen great grandchildren.

Sadie is also survived by three sisters, Norma Reidy of Sarasota, Fl, Gretchen Wyman of Gaithersburg, Md, and Kathy Hutchinson of Oil City along with one brother, David Straub of Titusville. Also surviving are two special friends Ruth Thompson of Oil City and Alma Byler of Spartansburg, as well as family friend Lisa Hasbrouck of Titusville.

In addition to her parents Sadie is preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Zdarko; two brothers, Peter and Joe Straub; and a sister, Polly Mansfield.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 8/15/2015 at 1:00 PM at St. Venantius Church in Rouseville, Fr. Matthew Ruyechan presiding. Internment will be in the Calvary cemetery. The Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
