Venus Motorcyclist Rushed to Hospital After Truck Collides with Bike

PINEGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 157 in Pinegrove Township, Venango County.

Police say this crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. as 1991 Dodge Power Ram, operated by 20-year-old Clayton Edward Lutz, of Oil City, was traveling east on Route 157 and failed to notice a 2012 Yamaha V Star motorcycle, operated by 45-year-old David E. Wheeler Jr., of Venus, Pa., was slowing down to make a right turn.

Lutz rear ended Wheeler’s motorcycle causing wheeler to be ejected forward approximately 10 feet, according to police.

Lutz came to final rest in the travel lanes facing east.

The motorcycle came to final rest lodged in the front bumper of the truck.

Police say Wheeler was transported by Community Ambulance to UPMC Northwest for treatment of his moderate injuries.

Police were assisted at the scene by Pinegrove Volunteer Fire Department, Community Ambulance, and Minich’s Towing.

Lutz was wearing a seat belt and not injured.

Wheeler was wearing a helmet.

Police say Lutz will be charged with Following too Closely through District Court 28-3-04.
