WASHINGTON TWP., Pa., (EYT) — According to Marienville-based State Police, on August 18, a hit and run accident occurred off the roadway at the intersection of State Routes 208 and 157, in Washington Township, Clarion County.

According to police, a 1987 Chevrolet Pace Arrow was parked in a vacant lot adjacent to the intersection of Routes 208 and 157, and sometime after 8:00 a.m., an unidentified truck used the same vacant lot to turn around. (The time was determined to be after 8:00 a.m. as the truck left tire marks in the mud on the dirt lot, and it had not starting raining in the area until after 8:00 a.m.)

The damage to the Chevrolet was discovered around 4:00 p.m. The tire marks in the mud indicated the truck had dual wheels for the rear drive tires. Additionally, the tire size and tread pattern indicate the truck is larger than a pickup, police say.

The tire marks in the mud traveled in front of the Chevrolet and completed a circle around the vehicle before exiting the lot back onto SR 208 in a western direction, according to police.

Damage was observed to the front passenger side corner of the Chevrolet. The tire marks near the damaged area of the Chevrolet indicate the operator of the unidentified vehicle did not allow enough room while turning for the rear portion to clear the Chevrolet, police say.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact PSP Marienville at 814-927-5253.
