Motorcyclist Ejected in Crash on Route 949, Flown to Altoona Hospital

HEATH TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police say a Ridgway man suffered injuries in a motorcycle crash in Heath Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the crash involved a 1984 Honda Shadow 700 motorcycle operated by Andrew J. Titus, 23, of Ridgway.

The crash occurred along State Route 949 when Titus apparently became distracted and drove at a right angle off of the north shoulder of the roadway for about 76 feet, according to police.

Titus lost control of the motorcycle on the uneven terrain, and it overturned before ejecting him, and he was thrown about seven feet before striking a tree and a rock, police say.

Titus and his bike came to final rest about eight feet off the paved portion of the north shoulder of the roadway, according to police.

He was transported to Altoona Regional Hospital by Lifeflight for treatment of a moderate injury, police say.

He was wearing a helmet, according to police.

Jefferson County EMS, Sigel Volunteer Fire Department, and State Park Rangers assisted at the scene.
