Paul L. Snyder

Snyder PaulPaul L. Snyder, 94, went to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2015 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

He was born in Franklin on August 28, 1920 to the late John B. and Nora E. Snyder.

He was a 1938 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a forward observer of artillery in France, Belgium and Germany. He was honorably discharged on January 10, 1946.

Paul was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Seneca for over fifty years, serving as a deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He was also very active in working on and maintaining the church building.

Mr. Snyder was employed by Joy Manufacturing in Franklin for forty years. He began as a sweeper and trucker, and retired in 1982 as a general foreman on the assembly floor.

Paul enjoyed traveling; visiting Europe and Asia, and throughout the forty-eight continental states.

He was very fond of pug dogs, especially Ben.

Paul was first married to Dorothy Louise Chapin, and she preceded him in death on March 1, 1963. On June 27, 1964 in Lorain, Ohio, he married the former Margaret R. Wortman, and she survives.

Also surviving are his nieces and nephews: Rev. John W. Snyder of Kittanning, Rev. Tom Snyder of Florida, Bill Snyder and David Snyder, of Franklin, Sue Anne Buchan, Bobby Jo Latshaw, and Beverly Myers, all of Franklin; and close friends of over sixty years, Rev. Ken Tapper and his wife Jean of Throop.

In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Henry C. Snyder, Clarence A. Snyder, Arnold E. Snyder, and Oliver Howdy Snyder; and one sister, Alice E. Lowers. Paul was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
