UPDATE: VFDs From Five Counties Put Out Heath Tank Fire; Two Employees Treated For Burns

BARKEYVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Volunteer fire departments from six counties have put out the fire after a gasoline storage tank explosion this morning at the Heath Tank Farm in Barkeyville Borough, Venango County.

Venango County 911 reports fire departments from Venango, Clarion, Jefferson, Butler and Lawrence, Mercer counties worked together to put out the 7:44 a.m. fire and cleared the scene at 11:57 a.m.

The Venango County Emergency Management Agency and the state Department of Environmental Protection also assisted at the scene.

Two Heath Tank Farm employees were injured and were transported to Grove City Medical Center for treatment of burns of unknown severity.

The incident prompted PennDOT to close nearby roads this morning, from the intersection of Route 8 and Route 208 (Clintonville-Barkeyville Road) to the Route 308 (Pearl/Bullion) exit. East and west exit ramps to I-80 were also closed.

All roads are now open to traffic.
