BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police have released details on a Thursday evening crash that left four people injured.

Clarion-based State Police say the accident happened around 6:08 p.m. when a vehicle operated by 32-year-old Veaceslav Bandalac, of Wheeling, Il., failed to stop behind slow moving traffic and struck a Freightliner tractor trailer operated by 43-year-old Alexander Brown of Florence, SC.
Brown’s truck subsequently struck a 2008 Ford F-250 operated by 35-year-old Robert C. Cherwinski, of Ulysses, Pa., which then struck a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer operated by 36-year-old Cesar E. Soto, of South Easton, Ma.
Police say 52-year-old Jack E. Westfall, of Lawrenceville, Pa. — a passenger in Cherwinski’s vehicle — was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment of unknown injuries.
Cherwinski was taken to Clarion Hospital for minor injuries.
Brown and a passenger reported minor injuries.
All other parties refused medical treatment.
The accident caused traffic congestion on multiple roadways throughout the area and shut down a portion of Interstate 80 eastbound for over 9 hours.
Knox Volunteer Fire Department, Knox Ambulance, Clarion Hospital EMS, Bauer Truck Repair, Frye’s Garage, and PENNDOT assisted at the scene.
