Venango County Man Found Guilty in Pittsburgh Homicide

umsteadPITTSBURGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man has been found guilty of third-degree murder in the stabbing of a man in Pittsburgh’s North Side last year.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 30-year-old David Umstead of Franklin was found guilty on August 28.

Umstead was on the run from a halfway house related to a DUI charge when police say he stabbed Delrio Ivy in the neck, chest, and arms.

He was later arrested and police were able to identify him on a surveillance video attacking Ivy.

Umstead allegedly told police he was going to buy drugs from Ivy on the night in question, but Ivy tried to rob him, cutting him with a knife first before Umstead acted in self-defense.
