FARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — According to Marienville-based State Police, a one-car accident occurred yesterday morning on State Route 36, east of Tylersburg Road, in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

Police say around 8:55 a.m. on February 4, 20-year-old Yongxuan Tian, of Erie, was traveling north on Route 36, and she executed a pass of two vehicles within a “no-passing” zone while approaching a sharp left turn in the roadway.

According to police, Tian passed at such a high rate of speed that she was unable to maintain control of her 2010 BMW X5. The car struck an embankment off the east side of the road and became airborne. It then traveled approximately 130 feet through a mud parking lot, struck a large pile of wood logs, and then overturned — coming to a final rest upright and facing south.

Both Tian and a passenger, 19-year-old Yangxi Wang, of Erie, suffered suspected minor injuries, police say.

Shippenville/Elk EMS transported them to Clarion Hospital.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

The vehicle sustained major disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Snyder’s Auto Body.

Tian was charged with a traffic violation.

Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Department and Shippenville/Elk EMS personnel assisted at the scene.
